மழை

மழை is the ordinary Tamil word for rain, but the Tamil Lexicon shows how much ordinary work it does: rain, cloud, water, blackness, coolness, abundance. The word does not cleanly separate the falling water from the cloud that holds it, the coolness it leaves, or the plenty it makes possible. Tirukkuṟaḷ makes the same argument structurally.
